Our Story

The organization has history back to 2014. From 2015 to October 2022 the organization used "A Pet's Pantry Society", from October 2022 to present we have used our current name and look.

The Board of Directors for A Pet's Pantry decided that the old name didn't encompass everything the organization had become, and didn't have the proudly Indigenous feel they wanted; they came together to decide how they wanted to go forward, and out of that Sacred Animal Medicine & Supplies was born.

At the start, the board was 100% Metis and knew that they wanted an indigenous focus to the organization, from the logo to the programs and any additional board members that were brought on would need to be indigenous, or be an indigenous ally who agreed with the vision and goals set.

Sacred Animal Medicine and Supplies acknowledges the traditional land on which we reside, is in Treaty Six Territory. We would like to thank the diverse Indigenous Peoples whose ancestors’ footsteps have marked this territory for centuries, such as nêhiyaw (Nay-hee-yow), Dené (Deh-neyh), Anishinaabe (Ah-nish-in-ah-bay), Nakota Isga (Na-koh-tah ee-ska), and Niitsitapi (Nit-si-tahp-ee) peoples. We also acknowledge this as the Métis’ (May-tea) homeland and the home of one of the largest communities of Inuit south of the 60th parallel.
